Just so you know a little bit about me: I was born in Chicago, graduated from Georgia Tech and some thirty-five years later, here I am in Philadelphia! OK, it's a little more involved than that.

After college, I did morning shows at various radio stations around the country, including Z-93 in Atlanta and 13 years in New York, 3 of them at WABC and 10 at Z-100, where I was Billboard magazine's Major Market Air Personality of the Year. I worked in Philadelphia at WEGX for a year between jobs in New York City. The last eight years before moving to Philly were at WKSS in Hartford.

I met my wife, Rasa Kaye, while working at WABC in New York --she's a newscaster who fills in frequently at our sister stations, WPHT 1210 --"The Big Talker," and KYW-AM. We'll be married 27 years in February and have a 13 year-old daughter (going on 21).

A Screen Actors Guild member, I've been in dozens of commercials and had a brief, on-camera appearance with buddy and former MTV VJ Adam Curry in Madonna's movie, "Truth or Dare" interviewing one of her dancers. I'm also the DJ (how hard was that?) in Blake Edwards' "Switch." My last residual check for "Switch": 53 cents.

As editor and publisher of The Ross Brittain Report, I'm up around 2:30 in the morning to provide a daily, 15-page column for about 150 radio stations across the country. And I have a 4-hour, syndicated weekend oldies show which runs on about 60 stations around the country.

As a minister in the Universal Life Church I've married more than 650 couples on the air (plus several off the air).

As a family, we've had ferrets (Ferret Bueller and Ferret Fawcett) but now have about 50 goldfish in the backyard, and a guinea pig, thanks to my daughter who loves them.

I look forward to being a part of your mornings ...and don't be shy, please feel free to call us and let us know if we're on track... or standing on your last nerve! Call The Breakfast Club on the 98.1 WOGL Request line, 1-800-942-8998.

It should clear up for Sunday night's Full "Strawberry" moon, also known in various locations as a Full Rose Moon (when Roses are in bloom), or a Full "Hot Moon." You can guess why that name originated in those days before air conditioning. ----------------------------------------------- June is the month for weddings and much as I love being an occasional minister and performing services, I don't think I could do it on a regular basis. And since my wife and I eloped 27 years ago, we didn't get to spend tons of money on the festivites and reception that *must* follow the big day. Interesting survey from the Conde Nast Bridal Group, which checked with over 16-hundred couples and pulled out some over-the-top expenses shared by some participants: --$3-thousand (or way more) for a gown you wear for five hours --$23-hundred for a bridesmaid's dress --$400 shoes --Hundreds or thousands more for the rehearsal dinner dress, the after-wedding party dress and the next-day brunch dress. --$15-thousand for a photographer --$7 grand for video --$35-hundred for the DJ --$1,100 for a particular veil the bride just HAD to have --One mother and father canceled their purchase of a condo in Aspen to pay for their daughter's wedding. ----------------------------------------------- While we're on ths subject, have I ever mentioned that with today's sky high wedding costs, plenty of couples are looking for some way, any way, they can cut costs. How about a fake wedding cake rental??? A new business in suburban Grand Rapids, Michigan, allows couples to rent decorated Styrofoam wedding cakes, saving couples about 50-percent of what real cakes cost. KIMBERLY AYA, owner of Fun Cakes, says her fake cakes look like the real deal. "They're covered in exactly what a real cake would be covered in --fondant and gum paste. The only difference is the inside. Nobody can tell." ---------------------------------------------------- Can't wait to head out on my Alaska cruise with the family and a bunch of listeners. We're leaving Jul 01 for the 49th state and the last time we went, there was a big hubbub in Juneau, which was getting its very first Target (no, I'm not kidding). But although they wanted the store, they didn't want the highway to be enlarged to a whole four lanes to accomodate the traffic, and cars were driving around with bumper stickers reading "Don't Jersey Juneau," the implication being --I guess-- that New Jersey is a state which is mostly asphalt. My response: I'm just off exit four of the Turnpike. Bite me. -------------------------------------------------------------- Factoid: And here's an appetizing thought for you people going along with me: a cruise ship can put more than 34-thousand gallons of sewage into the sea each day. Thank God we're at the top of the food chain, huh???
